WSU Bargaining Update 8/17/18

Our elected bargaining team met with management July 17-19 and again on July 24 to continue the work of negotiating our next contract. Our team achieved gains related to leave use and ensuring that members have a voice in our workplaces.

On July 24 we finalized our compensation proposal with the objectives of catching up to increased costs of living, ensuring the university can retain and recruit a quality workforce so that we can continue to make WSU happen. Only a few items remain to be settled with compensation being the main one.

What our team achieves in negotiations will be directly related to the support shown by members.

We are hoping to finalize our agreement with the university August 21-23. Can we count on your support?

Here's how you can participate:

  • Will you take the time to write a message to President Kirk Schultz about why equitable pay matters to you? In the coming weeks we will be circulating postcards. Please watch for them.
  • Will you commit to our union by signing a membership card (if you haven’t already)?
  • Will you agree to make your support visible and wear AFSCME GREEN on TUE August 21? Call 833 622 9373 to request one — or come by our Local 1066 union office (Professional Mall Blvd, Suite K) on August 1 between 5:15-6:30pm to pick one up.
